What’s Cabbage Day? I wondered the same thing. It started decades ago, when the host family had an abundance of vegetables, and invited friends and family over, to help consume the abundance. It has grown into a summer family reunion, with the grandparents’ children (who now live in different parts of the country) and grandchildren visiting for a week. The family has a fantastic week, seeing relatives and cousins, and it culminates in Cabbage Day, a fun filled day of swimming, eating, and lawn games. This year, everyone made tie-dyed shirts to wear. It was a fantastic event!
